Fighter Spotlight: Devon Vargas – First Time in the Ring, Fighting with Purpose

When Devon Vargas of the Rosepine Police Department steps into the ring at Battle of the Badges 2025, it won’t be just about throwing punches — it’ll be about proving heart, honoring purpose, and giving back.

Though this is Devon’s first year fighting with BOTB, his passion is anything but new.

“I was going to fight three years ago, but life happened,” Devon said. “Now, I’m finally here, and I plan to do this every year moving forward. This is just the beginning.”

💥 Fighting for a Cause Greater Than Himself

For Devon, the drive to fight comes from a place of purpose, not ego.
“Honestly? I just love to fight. But this one means more — because I get to fight for a great cause.”

That cause is MedCamps of Louisiana, which provides transformative camp experiences for children with special needs and chronic illnesses. It’s what BOTB is all about — community, courage, and compassion.

“You get to do something you love and help someone else. That’s why I’m here.”

🧠 What Makes His Opponent Dangerous?

Devon keeps it real:

“I’ve seen him — he’s cut. Definitely looks like he has more experience than me, but it’s just one night, one fight. And I’m ready.”

While he may be new to the BOTB stage, Devon has been fighting all his life — sometimes in the ring, sometimes just in the streets of life. That hunger and resilience will be what sets him apart.

🔥 What the Fans Don’t Know… Yet

This may be Devon’s first official fight with BOTB, but it won’t be his last.

“Right now, nobody knows me. But after this fight — they will. I plan to be back year after year. I want to be one of the names fans remember.”

He’s proud to represent Rosepine PD and even prouder to serve in a way that inspires others to give back, fight hard, and show heart.

⚔️ Bold Prediction for Fight Night?

“It’s going to be a war. I won’t promise a knockout, but I can promise this — I’m not going down.”

Devon Vargas is coming with grit, gratitude, and a mindset built for battle. He’s not just fighting for fun. He’s fighting for impact.

Fighter Story: Joel Faulk – Fighting for More Than a Win

For Joel Faulk, stepping into the ring at BOTB 2025 isn’t just about competition. It’s about conviction, community, and his son.

As a dedicated officer with the Louisiana State Probation Department, Joel’s life has been built on structure, discipline, and protecting others. But nothing prepared him for the moment his young son was diagnosed with autism. Watching his child struggle — especially with bullying at school — tore at him more than any opponent ever could.

That pain eventually turned to purpose.

Joel found strength and hope through MedCamps of Louisiana, a nonprofit camp that provides unforgettable, safe experiences for children with special needs. His son came back from camp smiling, standing taller, and finally feeling seen — and that changed everything for Joel.

So when the opportunity came to fight at Battle of the Best 2025, Joel didn’t hesitate.
Three minutes in the ring to support MedCamps? That’s nothing compared to what these kids go through every day,” Joel said.

This fight is more than sport. It’s a stand.
A stand for children like his son. A stand for inclusion.
And a stand for community.

💥 BOTB 2025 Fighter Summary: Joel Faulk

  • Name: Joel Faulk

  • Profession: Officer – LA State Probation Department

  • Hometown: Benton, Louisiana

  • Fighting Style: Grit and grind – built on heart, not just hands

  • Why He’s Fighting: To raise awareness and support for MedCamps of Louisiana and children with autism

  • Personal Mission: Show that real fighters protect, provide, and persevere

🎤 5-Question Interview with Joel Faulk

1. What drives you to step into the ring — fear or fire?

“It’s fire. The kind that comes from watching your child hurt and knowing you’d do anything to protect him. I fight because I have to — not for me, but for him.”

2. What makes your opponent dangerous — and beatable?

“He’s strong, no doubt. But he’s not fighting for what I’m fighting for. When your ‘why’ is bigger than you, no one can match your heart.”

3. What’s one thing fans don’t know about you… yet?

“I’m not just a fighter or a lawman. I’m a father to a beautiful boy with autism. And every punch I throw is for him.”

4. How do you train for war when the world’s watching?

“You train with focus and faith. I carry the weight of my son’s smile into every rep, every round. That’s my fuel.”

5. What’s your bold prediction for fight night?

“I’ll leave it all in the ring. Win or lose, MedCamps wins. And if I can raise awareness for just one more kid — I already won.”
