For over two decades, one man has stood in the corner for our heroes — not in silence, but with a megaphone, a mission, and a heart full of purpose. That man is Dennis Wall, the founder and promoter of Battle of the Badges, a non-profit amateur boxing show featuring courageous police officers and firefighters from Northeast Louisiana and across the country.

Now in its 21st year, BOTB 2025 returns with a powerful new theme: “Operation Honor” — a heartfelt tribute to our Police, Fire, First Responders, Military Branches, Veterans, and their Families. This theme isn’t just a slogan. For Dennis Wall, it’s personal. It’s a promise. It’s purpose in action.

And it’s never meant more than it does right now.

The Heart Behind the Gloves

Dennis Wall didn’t start Battle of the Badges for fame or fortune. He started it for community. For charity. For children. And for those who wear the badge and serve others, often without thanks or recognition.

“Battle of the Badges is bigger than boxing,” Dennis often says. “It’s about people who put their lives on the line every day getting in the ring — not to fight each other — but to fight for something bigger than themselves.”

That “something” is MedCamps of Louisiana, a life-changing nonprofit that provides free summer camp experiences for over 5,500 children with physical and mental disabilities across Louisiana. The kids they serve face daily challenges many of us could never imagine. But at MedCamps, those challenges fade behind fishing trips, horseback rides, campfire songs, swimming, smiles, and laughter.

And that’s what drives Dennis Wall to keep going — year after year.

What “Operation Honor” Means to Dennis Wall

For Dennis, the 2025 theme “Operation Honor” is a long overdue spotlight on the bravery, sacrifice, and humanity of the men and women who serve in uniform.

“In a time when the world can be divided, and our first responders and veterans sometimes feel unappreciated,” Dennis says, “we wanted BOTB 2025 to say one thing loud and clear: You are seen. You are valued. You are honored.

“Operation Honor” is about recognizing not just those in uniform — but also the families who stand behind them. The spouses who endure long nights. The children who say goodbye too often. The parents who worry every day. For Dennis, this isn’t abstract. It’s close to home.

He’s seen fallen friends, witnessed the toll of PTSD, and held the hands of those who’ve lost brothers in both the field and the ring. “These aren’t just titles,” Dennis says. “They’re people. Real people. With real courage.”

And for one night each year, they become boxers — fighting not just with gloves, but with heart, honor, and purpose.

More Than a Fight Night – A Movement of Impact

Since 2005, Battle of the Badges has done more than entertain. It has raised over $402,000 for its selected charities, while building bridges between law enforcement, firefighters, the military, and the community. The annual event draws over 5,500 people to the Monroe Civic Center, and its impact radiates far beyond the ring.

Every punch thrown represents a child gaining access to a summer of hope.
Every round fought equals new memories for a family touched by disability.
Every ticket sold fuels a cause that changes lives.

Dennis Wall never lets that mission drift from focus. In fact, before every fight, he takes a moment backstage to remind the boxers why they’re there.

“This is for the kids,” he tells them. “This is for the families. This is for the badge you wear and the people you serve.”

A Labor of Love — The Legacy of Dennis Wall

Organizing BOTB each year is no small feat. It requires months of planning, meetings, partnerships, sponsorships, and sleepless nights. But for Dennis, it’s a labor of love. He wears many hats: promoter, fundraiser, ring announcer, and even peacekeeper when tensions flare.

But the hat he wears most proudly? Servant.

His deep respect for law enforcement and firefighters is rooted in personal experience. Over the years, he’s built deep bonds with departments across the region and has welcomed participants from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and beyond. For many, it’s more than just a chance to fight — it’s a chance to heal, to grow, and to give back.

“Some of our boxers come in not just to fight, but to fight through something,” Dennis says. “Grief, trauma, the weight of the job. And they leave with a sense of release and pride.”

That’s the power of BOTB. It’s not about violence — it’s about valor.

What Keeps Him Going – A Heart for Children

One of Dennis’ most emotional memories came after a show several years ago. A young girl, who had attended MedCamps thanks to the funds raised by BOTB, ran up to him after the event and hugged him tightly.

With tears in her eyes, she said, “Thank you for giving me a place where I didn’t feel different.”

That moment fuels Dennis to this day.

“When you realize a night of boxing can turn into a lifetime of memories for a kid who faces so many challenges — how can you ever stop?” he says.

That’s why every year, without fail, Dennis goes back to the gym. Back to the phone calls. Back to the boardrooms. And ultimately, back to the ring.

Honoring a Community — Lifting a Cause

BOTB is more than an event. It’s a platform — one that uplifts, celebrates, and honors. And through “Operation Honor,” Dennis Wall is making sure that everyone who steps into the arena this August feels that deep appreciation.

He honors the fallen. He lifts the weary. He celebrates the unsung heroes.

And perhaps most powerfully — he brings people together.

Whether you’re a police officer, firefighter, veteran, or civilian — whether you buy a ticket or sponsor a fighter — when you show up to BOTB, you become part of a movement that is changing lives one punch at a time.

Final Bell: A Message from Dennis Wall

“To everyone who has ever bought a ticket, stepped into the ring, or believed in what we do — thank you. This isn’t just my dream anymore — it’s a community legacy. And as long as there are children who need us, and heroes who serve us, Battle of the Badges will keep fighting.
